8 Tips to Prepare Your Home for Holiday Guests
Having guests over doesn’t have to be intimidating, it can be exciting if you are well prepared. Whether you’re expecting family that visits frequently or friends staying for the first time, it’s important to make your guests feel welcome. In addition to cleaning, here are 8 simple steps can be done at super speed to get your home ready for their arrival.
1. DECORATE THEIR BEDROOM
An inviting bedroom goes a long way towards making your guests get in the holiday spirit and feel welcome. Add a little festive cheer by putting up a few decorations such as: holiday pillows, a wreath, mistletoe, bells, twinkle lights, and/or red and green blankets.
2. STOCK EXTRA TOILETRIES
Make extra bathroom supplies and essential toiletries easy to find. You never know when your guests may need an extra toothbrush, shampoo, or makeup remover. They’ll appreciate the convenience of not having to run out to the store in the middle of their beauty routine.
3. ADD NIGHT LIGHTS
Adding night lights to public areas such as hallways, bathrooms, and the kitchen will prevent your guests from stumbling around in the dark. It’s always good to be prepared in case they wake up in the middle of the night.
4. SHARE YOUR WIFI PASSWORD
Everyone wants access to the internet, so make it easier by displaying your WiFi name and password. Here’s a helpful hint: get a small picture frame and display the information on your guest’s nightstand or in the kitchen.
5. DECLUTTER YOUR HOME
Creating a comfortable environment for your guests encourages them to relax and enjoy the experience of being in your home. Your home doesn’t have to be spotless, but at least put away unsightly objects and be sure you clear a space for your guests to unpack their suitcases and travel items.
6. CREATE A COFFEE STATION
Some wake up early and some sleep in late, but no one wants to knock on your bedroom door to ask where coffee supplies are located. Make it easy for guests to help themselves, and be sure to include mugs, sugar, spoons, filters and a variety of ground coffee/pods.
7. PROVIDE BLANKETS AND FANS
Your guests might keep their house at a different temperature than yours, so be sure to provide extra blankets and fans. This way your guests can sleep comfortably, and you won’t have to worry about changing the thermostat.
8. WELCOME BASKET
Offering a welcome basket is a sure-fire way to make your guests feel welcome and it will add a special touch to their visit. Stock it with water, snacks, fruit, tissues, chapstick, magazines, gum, lotion, chocolate, lint roller, flowers, and/or other items you think your guests will enjoy.
